Ingredients
Danish:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 cup thinly sliced fresh strawberries
4 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup mixed red fruit jam
2 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
2 tsp whole milk
Icing:
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp whole milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Beat cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla until smooth.
Stir cornstarch into jam and fold in sliced strawberries.
Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4–6 rectangles.
Score a 1/2-inch border around each rectangle.
Spoon cream cheese filling into the center of each rectangle.
Top with strawberry-jam mixture, keeping the filling within the borders.
Whisk egg with milk and brush pastry edges.
Bake 18–22 minutes until golden and puffed.
Cool 5–10 minutes, then drizzle icing over the Danish.
Notes
Keep puff pastry cold until assembly for best puff.
Do not overload the filling to prevent sogginess.
Use cornstarch in jam to thicken juices.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1 day at room temperature or 2–3 days in the fridge.
Reheat in a toaster oven to restore crispiness.
Try seasonal fruit variations or different jams for unique flavors.
