Description

Pineapple agua fresca is a naturally sweet and hydrating drink made with fresh pineapple, cold water, and a touch of sweetener. This light, tropical beverage is perfect for hot days, pairing beautifully with both sweet and savory meals.

Ingredients

Scale

3 lbs fresh pineapple (about 4 cups), peeled and chopped

4 cups cold filtered water

12 tablespoons sweetener (cane sugar, honey, or agave

Instructions

Cut the pineapple into chunks, discarding the skin and core.

Pour the cold water into a blender.

Add the chopped pineapple to the blender.

Blend on high speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and lightly frothy.

Taste and add sweetener, starting with 1 tablespoon. Blend again if needed.

If the mixture is pulpy, strain it through a fine mesh sieve.

Transfer to a pitcher and chill for 30–60 minutes.

Serve over ice and garnish with mint or pineapple slices.

Notes

For a twist, add a splash of lime or coconut water.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in a sealed jar.

Use a high-powered blender to avoid needing to strain the juice.
