Description
These crispy, fluffy French toast bites are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or snacking. Made with thick Texas toast and a simple cinnamon-vanilla batter, they cook up fast and taste amazing dipped in maple syrup.
Ingredients
6 slices Texas Toast or other thick-sliced white bread
3 large eggs
½ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)
½ cup maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
Cut the Texas toast into bite-sized cubes.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
Dip the bread cubes into the egg mixture, coating evenly without oversoaking.
Heat butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Add the coated bread cubes in batches, making sure not to crowd the pan.
Cook each side for 2–3 minutes, or until golden and crisp on all sides.
Remove from skillet and serve warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes
Use slightly stale bread for better absorption and crispier texture.
You can freeze cooked bites and reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
Add a pinch of nutmeg or mini chocolate chips to the batter for flavor variations.
